We couldn’t close out 2012 without sharing some of our favorite people, places and moments of the year, making such a lasting impression that we promise we’ll still be talking about them well into ’13.

Fashion Moment: Battle of the rebrands in Paris. Sure to heat up in 2013 as Alexander Wang takes on Balenciaga, and both Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane breathe new life into Dior, and, Saint Laurent, respectively.

Benchmarks: Bond turned 50, GIF turned 15, and the cassette tape turned 50!

New Restaurant: ACME was our favorite spot in 2012.

The blogs loved: Charcuterie food photography.

Secret Supper Clubs: LA-based Wolvesmouth and a New Yorker profile spearheaded a new movement.

Opulence:  between the Porter, Carnival in Rio, adventures in Morocco and Tokyo, the future looks brighter than ever for the Jet Set.  And for 2013?  We’d love to stop by this bar in Moscow.



Starchitect of the Year: Zaha Hadid, whose notable work of the last 12 months includes a sprawling new complex in Beijing, designing Naomi Campbell’s future residence in Russia, and a Z-boat.

Converted spaces: Water towers, churches, and more turned into some of the coolest residences we saw in 2012.



Color crazy: some of our favorites came from Nick Frank, Steve Hutt, and Ward Roberts
