Not even the lengthy intro to Young Man’s “Nothing” could prepare ears for the melting they face. With on-the-edge vocals taking after the late and beloved Elliot Smith, the gorgeous layers of this soothing track enchants. His mystical pop draws from M83-like instrumental rants buoyant atop a raving electric guitar and an altogether magical rhapsody. It’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve heard floating around the indie scene since Grizzly Bear arrived. Get to know this young man known to kin and company as Colin Caulfield of Chicago.
Be sure to check out the remainder of beautiful goodies off his newest album Ideas of Distance, thanks to indie gem catchers, Frenchkiss Records.
