Veerle Symoens Collage Exhibition

Newspapers, television and the Internet constantly put images to their hand. Mixed-media collage artist Veerle Symoens adds a little extra.

From 5 till 7 October 2018, the collages of Veerle Symoens are exhibited during the Ruta del Arte in Frigiliana (Malaga – Spain)

Veerle Symoens her method may show a lot of playfulness, her compositions are intuitive, personal and honest. Her collages translate emotion into a mix of manual manipulations. They are powerful portraits, tout court.

For her new series of collages she was inspired by tribes, the connection between humans and animals, the southern flow, sunshine and colors.

“I usually start with one image that inspires me and start manipulating this by cutting, tearing, glueing and sometimes painting on it. I never know what a collage will look like in the end. I work purely intuitively”
