When you think of NIKE the first thing that pops to mind is most likely a pair of sporty sneakers, maybe with a neon yellow sole and black laces; however this is not the case for artist and sculptor Tom Sachs. In conjunction with the highly anticipated Park Avenue Armory Show, artist Tom Sachs has teamed up with NIKE to create a limited edition collection of sneakers, jackets and bags. With this collaboration a new element of design aesthetic was applied to the brands image by using unconventional materials which Sachs has continuously incorporated in his past projects. With space exploration as an inspiration, Nike has put together an excellent spin on sportswear for Sachs’s current exhibition, SPACE PROGRAM: MARS, which can be seen May 16th – 17th, 2012 at New York’s Park Avenue Armory.
