The name is not coincidental. St. Lucia is a relaxing, romantic getaway in the Caribbean, but for our purposes is more importantly the inspiration for which the South African artist titled his project. In Brooklyn, frigidly missing warm exotic summers, the HeavyRoc Music man took on the sunny alias and gave us his standout single, “All Eyes On You.”
The moving precision of arrangements and distinctive musical shape dances through the brain and– plainly said–makes you feel good. Get trapped in the repetitive chorus and rising accompaniment that gets bigger and better with each echo. The 90’s style saxophone solo alone has got a manifest destiny to take his track far. Let’s just hope Lucia carries himself through the chore of proving his upfront self-comparisons to Temper Trap, and “the infectiousness of Empire of the Sun.” I’d like to think the song title speaks secretly about confidently identifying his career and ability to keep all eyes on him.
