Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: Maniac

      1. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah -- Maniac

The eclectic and sometimes beautifully awkward Clap Your Hands Say Yeah five-some are back. “Maniac” and fellow single teaser, “Same Mistake” off the to-be-released album, Hysterical debuts a more tame version of lead singer, Alec Ounsworth’s typically pubescent and off-kilter vocals–which I must say are sorely missed. However, the revisited take on their indie accessibility may allow for a better reach into the commercial success cookie drawer.

Nonetheless, I can imagine native fans are praying the September full-album release will display a context of old and new wave taste, easing their worries of a total sound revamp. It seems while throwing us for a slight evolutionary curve ball in their 3rd LP,  “Maniac” demonstrates the lyrical sweetness and synthesized route to playful harmonies that has remained intact and enamored so many.
