ASAP ROCKY: Long.Live.A$AP

Long Live ASAP

Harlem native, Rakim Mayers, publicly known as A$AP ROCKY, will be releasing his well-awaited debut album “LONG.LIVE.A$AP” on January 15th 2013, on A$AP Worldwide, Polo Grounds Music and RCA Records.

The style and video direction for the title track are no surprise; black and white format, camera close-ups and mainly focused on Mayers’ unique sense of style, and topped with luxurious and bling-bling accessories (grill).
The song however is an interesting contrast of style between the verse and chorus. Sung, the chorus has a catchy and pleasant touch with a Pharrell-like high-pitched melody, whereas the verses create a cold atmosphere with a ruthless flow. Somehow ASAP makes it work and keeps us wanting more.

I’m not doing songs to compete with nobody, that’s why I’m winning.”

The 24-year old rapper and video director seems to have a lot of things going for him at the moment, including an uncontaminated vision of the music industry and a growing passion for fashion.

Plus, the album is set to include guest appearances from Santigold, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Action Bronson and many more. Say no more.
