As Karl Lagerfeld spent part of his childhood on a farm, it seems only fitting that the Chanel built a version of a Marie Antoinette’s barnyard in the Grand Palais to present his Spring Summer 2010 collection.
The models emerged from a hidden trapdoor wearing high-heeled clogs, jaunty ginghams, tweed jackets, flirty lace insets and crocheted dresses – and carrying egg basket purses, quilted purses and sheaves of wheat.
Chanel ambassador Lily Allen had the celeb-studded front row crowing (Leigh Lezark, Claudia Schiffer, Irina Lazareanu, Sean Lennon, Kemp Muhl, Virginie Ledoyen, Rihanna and Prince) with her barnyard romp ‘Not Fair’.
