And the award for best restaurant in America goes to…Palm Springs’ Workshop Kitchen + Bar, designed by SOMA Architects. The restaurant embraces an emerging minimalism, one of emotion and temperance. In an area known for it’s Mid Century Modernist glory, the building embraces its 1920s colonial roots, while just a few well thought out design choices like tones (deep greys) and material (sleek concrete) bring it into contemporary light. Speaking of, the space also feature beautiful lighting design by custom atelier .PSLAB. The centerpiece? A 34 foot long, communal table which sits under the 27-foot high peaked ceiling. In the kitchen, chef/owner Michael Beckman serves up Mediterranean-inflected New American cuisine. Click here to see more of this years winners.
