Gasper Noe’s “psychedelic melodrama” Enter The Void stars Nathaniel Brown and Paz de la Huerta.
Taking place in neon-lit Tokyo, it follows Oscar, an American drug dealer, who gets shot by the police and subsequently watches the story unfold in an out-of-body experience. The story, according to the director, “is a dream of someone who read The Tibetan Book of the Dead, and heard about it before being shot. It’s the story of someone who is stoned when he gets shot and who has an intonation of his own dream.” The film was inspired by the director’s experimentation with hallucinogenic drugs. Premiering at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, it’s official release came a year later.
