As a society, we have embraced the concept of a nomadic lifestyle and explore our world through digital and physical travel. The mentality of living with less has become more favorable than the need to accumulate excess belongings.
Reflecting on the history of nomadism, gallery director Raffaele Carrieri and trend expert Lidewij Edelkoort have curated NOMADISMI, an installation at the Altai Gallery in Milan that merges contemporary and traditional art from around the world. Antique primitive carpets, handcrafted and rich with history, provide the base for modern objects of unique sustainable materials and simple eco-friendly inventions. The result is an exhibit that celebrates the neo-tribal aesthetic with an abstract minimalistic feel.
