For most, the best part about found objects is the search. For artist Randy Grskovic, it’s what comes after he finds the object. And what comes after is a stylistic slicing and dicing process, followed by a rearranging of the now broken object into something new. “It’s an anonymous collaboration. The document is now skewed,” says Randy about his work.
His latest series, Distortions of the Past; Collaborations for the Future gets even more personal. Although now based in Vancouver, Randy remembers moving a bit growing up, and losing a lot of photos in the process. “The memory has changed and so has the document,” he says, “The photograph as well as any other document is never an accurate depiction of truth.”
