Light Installation in the Irish mountains of Connemara

The Irish mountains of Connemara are the perfect backdrop for one of the largest illuminated artworks by the Finnish artist Kari Kola. Kari and his team made a massive light installation by creating a light roof in emerald and blue.

The big art piece called Savage Beauty was commissioned by Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture. The artist explains how he has always been interested in light, especially growing up in Finland where the winters are dark and last very long. Kari is specialized in working with vulnerable sites like Unesco HQ, Stonehef, Villa de Laak and Saana Mountain and has planned to work on an unseen scale. With this artwork which takes place over the whole valley next to the glacier lake Lough Na Fuaiche, he made a pretty good start.
