    Moon Gazer: KAWS Parks a 30-Meter Robot on Hangzhou’s West Lake

    For the Mid-Autumn Festival, KAWS and AllRightsReserved brought the HOLIDAY world tour to Hangzhou with its most cinematic stop yet: a 30-meter-long reclining COMPANION, reworked as a futuristic robot and cast in osmanthus yellow, laid out on the lawns of “Orioles Singing in the Willows” on West Lake.

    The figure lies facing the sky, a contemporary nod to the festival tradition of moon gazing. The robotic form pays tribute to Hangzhou’s standing as a technology hub, while the soft yellow takes its cue from the osmanthus flower, the city’s official bloom, and the light of the harvest moon. Organized by AllRightsReserved with local partner WESTLAKE 66, the installation ran September 24–27, 2026, with no admission fee.

    It is the latest stop of the KAWS:HOLIDAY tour, which has placed monumental COMPANIONs in public landmarks around the world since 2018, from Seoul and Tokyo to Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, Shanghai, Bangkok, and even the stratosphere.
