Using Jacquard weaving technique, Amsterdam based designer Kustaa Saksi’s “Hypnopompic” features large-scale psychedelic tapestries portraying the hazy limbo between sleep and wakefulness as well as the delusions that can sometimes accompany migraines. The latter, according to Saksi, was the catalyst for these creations which contrast natural fibers like alpaca wool and mohair with metallic nylon threads. While these dream-like landscapes blend neural, hallucinatory sensations, they also happen to merge styles of psychedlic and op art, folk art and orientalism.
