Paul Wackers is a Connecticut-raised, Brooklyn-based painter whose works are still lifes occupying deserted, cluttered spaces. Inspired by figurative painting and baroque artists such as Dutch Willem van Aelst, Wackers’ landscapes are filled with obsolete objects, plants and windows “offering an insight in a parallel reality”. His art combines the variety of old and modern influences that result in complex landscapes referencing to the masters of the Golden Age yet set in contemporary contexts.
