Monique Goossens’ Hair Typography

monique goossens

Hair isn’t the most common medium in art, but Amsterdam-based artist and designer Monique Goossens has a knack for using unconventional materials. Her past works have featured birds, frogs, and even rats, but lately, Goossens has turned to human hair for inspiration. Her hair typography is interesting in that it actually resembles thin strokes of a pen to someone unaware that it is hair. Goossens makes use of the natural shapes and curves of the strands to create each form, and the result is a set of eerie, striking letters.
