A red grape can easily become a balloon in the neat and witty world of Ecuadorian illustrator Javier Perez. Through his account Cintascotch he often draws around everyday objects. Clients like Extra chewing gum and Air France are some who have engaged this very particular drawing into their commercials. Since 2012 Cintascotch has gained 135k followers due to Pérez’ whimsical handcraft.

I always want to create visuals where people can take a break from the saturation of photos in general.

You have a very neat and interesting way of combining drawing and products. How did this idea come to mind?
I get inspired by an idea or an object. Sometimes I see an object and then I got an idea, sometimes it’s the other way around.

How would you describe your Instagram wall?
I always try to be minimal, simple and direct.

What is challenging about Instagram? When do you feel you have achieved something?
To capture the attention of the users in a few seconds! When people comment on my photos I feel great achievement.

Why do you think your account got a great level of engagement?
Sincerely, I don’t know. I only tried to be different from a “normal” Instagram account. I always want to create visuals where people can take a break from the saturation of photos in general.
