Improved Reality Artvertising

Improved reality is part of our near future, and if you can replace ugly billboards with Art, well the world should be a more happy place then! The Artvertiser is a software platform for replacing billboard advertisements with art in real-time. It works by teaching computers to ‘recognize’ individual advertisements so they can be easily replaced with alternative content, like images and video. see video below

Here is documentation of the street exhibition they did for Transmediale 2010 as part of the Future Obscura exhibition. It was the first successful trial of The Artvertiser digital binoculars (aka ‘Billboard Interception Unit’ v1).

They had a huge number of advert substitutions submitted for the exhibition; just a few are documented here.
Around 30 people joined them on the art walk and many thousand people saw this documentation in the exhibition hall itself.
