Food photography is absolute torture. I’m just being honest. Especially for a self-proclaimed foodie like myself. But when the images are as beautiful as Vanessa Rees’s, despite the nagging huger pangs, I find it rather difficult to look away. Based in Brooklyn, Rees is a food, still life, and lifestyle photographer. If you can manage to keep your focus off the food, and on the images themselves (it’s hard, no judgment here), you’ll see movement, playfulness, and lots of color. Her wonderfully composed photos are quite dynamic and ever so lovely. I think if you were forcing me to choose, and it feels like you are, I would have to say the Dark and Light series are my favorite.
