FENDI presents The Shapes of Water by Sabine Marcelis

In honor of Fendi’s 10th anniversary with Design Miami/, the Italian luxury fashion house collaborated with Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis to rediscover one of the most cherished elements: Water. For the occasion, Marcelis created ‘The Shapes of Water’: 10 cast resin fountains inspired by iconic symbols of craftsmanship and by the logo of the historic Roman fashion house.

As a bonus, the two beautiful Video made by Carl Kleiner:

Two fountains create the signature FF logo, designed by creative director Karl Lagerfeld in 1965. Marcelis manipulated the cast resin so that the colors shift from light yellow to dark orange and brown, depending on the light and the water’s movement.

A piece inspired by the iconic Peekaboo bag was placed at the entrance of the booth—the bag also celebrates this anniversary year.

“The idea was to simply present the bag as it is, but optimized. In the end I chose to freeze the design with a resin block, exaggerating the shape frozen within,”

For the Italian label, she said, “We identified ten key icons of the house—the headquarters, the luxurious materials, the Peekaboo bag designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi—[and] I then set out to find a way to reinterpret and abstract these icons.”
