The coffee industry in Saudi Arabia is a flourishing business. The coffee roasters Elixir Bunn built a strong reputation in the area and decided to open a space that would represent the atmosphere of their products.
Coffee is well-rooted in Saudi Arabia culture, that’s why the Azaz Architects team wanted to create a space mixing traditions and a contemporary aesthetic.
Walking into the new location in Riyadh it’s like a modern day spiritual-like experience.
The structural arches at the center was embraced by the architects who decided that it would be the center point of its design. Overlooking the sustainable Italian terrazzo counter, the arches offer a strong space delimitation while recalling the middle east traditional islamic architecture. A huge navy blue staircase follows the curved interior and add a modern edge to the shop.
Using material such as mud, wood or mineral finishing, it brings an earthy vibe and a feel of local sanctity.
