Damien Gilley is a Portland (OR) based artist. His works are large-scale installations made through the use of strips of tape. He starts analyzing the location for his site-specific projects to create suitable proportions and geometry plays with the architecture. His works want to explore the space and the perception of the viewer, creating illusionistic wall drawings full of colored lines, huge landscapes through modular and geometric forms, switching constantly between two and three dimensions, volumes, and flatness. The final aim of Gilley’s projects is an alternative viewing experiences, a hybrid prospect situations starting from hidden urban structures and reconfiguring them with drawing and sculptural practices.
