Welcome back, Coldplay! The reviews are widely mixed on the boys’ newest addition to their legendary list of emotionally explosive hits, but all the fanatics are praising away. “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” stays blue and true to the elements that got so many fans hooked in the first place. Those bursting choruses with each verse pacing back and forth on a slowly climaxing guitar and drums is their style through and through. I fondly remember when the band came on the music scene with a similarity to Radiohead and an inherent indie-ness. An arguable description for some who would easily place their first album, Parachute into pop, where they now most definitely reside as pop culture icons comparable to U2. Those days are gone, but I appreciate their remaining relevance and song quality to this day. For all you closet Coldplay lovers, enjoy!
