Located in Chelsea NY, Chamber is a boutique and gallery housing one-of-a-kind, rare and limited edition objects. Founded in 2014 by Juan Garcia Mosqueda the concept borrows inspiration from Renaissance-era “Cabinet of Curiosities”.
Serving as a platform for design experimentation, Chamber aims to be a twenty-first century reliquary. Each year, a new artist or designer is invited to curate a new capsule collection, thus injecting his own perspective into the Chambers gallery. As its first curator, Studio Job was asked to bring together 100 objects for the boutique’s premier collection. Famed Piet Hein Eek, Formafantasma and Tom Dixon are among other artists involved with Chamber. Chamber’s most recent Capsule collection which featured Chilean designer Nicolás Aracena Müller, transformed Chamber into a designer studio. The artist worked within the gallery to improvise a series of furniture pieces that were presented to the public during and after completion. Muller had the chance to explore New York and collect the wood used on his pieces, which were all sourced locally.
