Sebastien Leon Agneessens is a New York-based French installation artist, creative director and composer who has used his extraordinary multimedia talent to create a dynamic installation commissioned by the Artist network and Audi A.G at the occasion of the Guangzhou Innovation exhibition.
The polyphonic installation was titled, ‘Conference of Birds’ after a series of poems written by Sufi poet Fari Ud-Din Attar in 1777. Responding to Audi’s latest innovations and constant drive for self-improvement, the installation acts as a meditative dialogue between Audi AG and its Chinese clientele, provoking a reflection on the balance between industrial development and the environment, as well as the role we play as individuals in this fine symbiosis.
A hypnotic image of a dissected car, thousands of silver foil balloons, wireless speakers playing symphonic mix of urban and bird sounds are all part of this remarkable installation. Immersive, sensory and thought provoking, the installation transports visitors into another realm, encouraging them to engage with the work on a highly physical level. A merging of multimedia expertise with poetic judgment enables this installation to push the limits of sound and movement design.
