Aquilano e Rimondi S/S 2012

The best ones never really like to show all they got. Just like Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, the two designers behind their eponymous line Aquilano e Rimondi, who have just revealed their restrained brilliance in their latest S/S 2012 collection.  At a glance, the pieces are extremely feminine and elegant. With smooth, slender silhouettes, you’d never guess that the skirts were painstakingly hand-covered in shades of tulle or the swirl decoration was rendered with precisely-placed beads.

A marked celebration of Italian workmanship, almost all the fabrics featured prints reminiscent of the Italian Renaissance—jacquard swirls of silver and gold, decorated silk ottoman jackets, and almost architectural-shaped skirts. It’s this vision and attention to minute detail, balanced by an overall lightness in design, that makes this new collection a real work of art.
