Acne F/W 2012

Confused, surprised, and extremely curious were just a few of the emotions that surfaced as I began to review the Acne F/W 2012 collection. I had to do a fact check and make sure I did not miss a major replacement in the house, but Jonny Johansson was right in his place, only stepping into a very experimental territory. Acne is one of our favorite brands. With its minimal Swedish aesthetic it has become a major destination for effortless chic in RTW fashion, and partially because we know what we can expect. This season Johansson delivered a major conceptual curve ball. There was beautiful draping and pinching of fabric in coat treatments, cinched waistlines on boxy shapeless silhouettes, exaggerated sleeves and much more that set this collection apart from any other before its time. I am very curious to see how this conceptual departure will translate in the seasons to come.
