An oriental therapy center & wellness clinic in Braga, Portugal, by Martins Architecture Office offers a design take on seemingly mundane space. Measuring 49 meters square, the architects took the maximum advantage of the surface. Additional limitations came with the small budget and the fact the clinic is located inside a shopping mall. Still, no solutions are commercial here.
The reception was conceived as a “box inside a box” painted in white. The division between the treatment room and the waiting area is marked by a marble wall and simple curtains. Marble continues to frame the doors and baseboards, offering a sense of consistency. Taking this holistic approach on wellness – meaning the space we find ourselves within impacts us too – is surely an example to follow.
