15 beautifully curated rooms are currently dedicated to a Retrospective on Yves Saint Laurent’s life as a designer at the Petit Palais in Paris. The exhibit has been up since mid-March, but the line to get into the museum is still 2 hours long, so we were very lucky to make ti on on our one day in Paris last week. The Retrospective covers iconic periods of the designers career, including : The Dior years, the Gender Revolution, the controversial portrait by Jeanloup Sieff, Imaginary Journey’s, Looking Through the Glass of Art, The Last Ball, The Smoking, The Collision of Colours.

Yves Saint Laurent on his Imaginary Journey’s Collection:

“I use my imagination on countries I dont know. I hate traveling. If i read a book about India, with images, or Egypt, where I’ve never been, my imagination runs away with me. Thatw i make my most marvelous voyages.”

Yves Saint Laurent on The Smoking Collection: The Smoking

“For a woman the tuxedo is indispensable: she will feel permanently in fashion because it is a style item, not a fashion one. Fashion changes but style remains.”
