AES+F is a collective of four Russian artists: Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, Evgeny Svyatsky, and Vladimir Fridkes, whose last project “Inverso Mundus” or “World Upside Down” is currently showcased at Neues Museum, Nürnberg, Germany.
The title of the unexpected visual narrative – Inverso, both an Italian “the opposite” and the Old Italian “poetry,” and Mundus is the Latin “world”. The AES+F reinterprets the 16th century’s engravings presenting them as modern life’s events.
Inverso Mundus is an upside down reality where roles are reversed – children punish their teachers, pig guts the butcher and a donkey is being carried on a back of a man. An absurd social utopia reflecting on global issues and contemporary values.
A single-channel installation Inverso Mundus is currently on view at Neues Museum, Nürnberg, Germany from January 10th – April 1st, 2018.
