Trailer Tuesdays: Le Bal

If anyone is needing the spice of life from a different era, there is perhaps no better film than Ettore Scola’s Le Bal, the 1983 Italian masterpiece in which men and women meet on a Parisian dance floor and travel through time. It is our pick for this week’s Trailer Tuesday highlight.

A film without words, but the extraordinary personalities of the characters matched with period costumes from the 1930s all the way through 1983 more than make up for it.  With lively music, dancing and choreography, there is enough life in the film to make you forget none of the characters are talking (ironically this movie was nominated for Best Foreign Language film).  The story of dance through this epoch also tells the tale of Europe’s history, making this remarkable film a choice not to be missed.
