Dree Hemingway stars in this week’s featured film, 2012’s “Starlet”, as 21 year old Jane, who, after discovering $10,000 hidden in an old relic, befriends the old woman who sold said object to her at a yard sale.
Directed by Sean Baker, the film depicts Jane attempting to pay off a kind of karmic debt to Sadie, played by Besedka Johnson, who is revealed to not have known about the cash, since it was most likely hidden by her deceased husband. A natural friendship develops between the two, after Jane, who spends most of her time getting high with her roommates before heading to an illicit job, insists on getting to know Sadie in an effort to solve her dilemma.
