The powerhouse gallery has gathered nine monumental works of Tom Wesselmann “Still Lifes” that the pioneering pop artist created between 1967 and 1981 but never shown together. The iconic graphic compositions of enlarged ordinary items such as lipstick that measures a little over 14 feet; sunglasses, a ring, and a belt transform the gallery into an ultimate super sized playground.
The paintings that could be sculptures if they weren’t two-dimensional, were created in the golden era of pop art, and are quite quintessential of that period. The exhibit “Standing Still Lifes” is not to miss event of a leading figure of American pop art, whose scaled-up, vivid and bold artistry made his work iconic.
