Art director and stylist Elisabetta Bongiorni drew inspiration from botanical illustrations for the shoots of Lia Di Gregorio’s jewelry.
Lia Di Gregorio is an Italian jewel designer. Entirely handmade in Italy, Lia Di Gregorio’s creations play with clean and sculptural lines resulting in easy to wear, effortless pieces with a sophisticated and long lasting beauty.
The combinations of shapes, the balance of proportions and the timeless grace of jewels are compared in this shooting to that of flowers.
“Say it with a flower” is the project’s name. Blossoms, like jewelry, can transmit a universal and powerful message and these two beautiful and perfect subjects were all was needed to create meaningful images that could transmit Lia Di Gregorio’s world.
“Our aim was to create a visual tale with a sophisticated and simple aesthetic at the same time” Elisabetta Bongiorni explains “For these sets we decided to use flowers because they are Lia’s great passion, they are part of her identity”
Shot by Omar Sartor, the images are a visual ode to the art of capturing still life. Just like in the botanical illustrations, the images focus on blossom and jewlery’s details, textures and color shades.
Color plays a central role in the images, focusing on shades combination and on the juxtaposition of bright tones and neutral background palettes “adding more to the set would have been superfluous, we already had two great protagonists.” adds Elisabetta.
