Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni takes design seriously, as shown in the straightforward, recently unveiled, Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Minimal and modern—but no less striking—the show was dominated with boxy silhouettes in similarly boxy prints. The fun came in, though, with in forms of unexpected volumes and punches of detail: lilac and tomato red print played with sunshine yellow, dresses came in sharp patent leather, peplums were long and flouncy, and off-shoulder sleeves were worked in stunning origami-like shapes. These expertly executed features gave the collection, which ranged from day to evening wear, an eye-catching 3-D effect, and the audience quite a show for the season.
