Look no further! Artist Magnhild Kennedy, best known as Damselfrau work with masks as autonomous works of art as well as ‘action-objects’ (wearable accessories). For her, the mask is a place where different elements come together as a composition.
Damselfau creations are made from materials found on the street or previously owned by other persons. She has used fine lace, worn by Nineteenth Century Norwegian author Camilla Collett, some hair from 200 years old Japanese Geisha as well as everyday stuff she can find in the street.
Autodidact at core, Magnhild find great pleasure in solving technical problems in the making of her work. In addition, she most often tries to create new techniques herself by solving the issues she may encounter during the manufacturing process. We love her Masks!
