elming from Africa’s imperial city Marrakesh, a place laden in history and culture, lives La Mamounia, a resort regal in nature, unparalleled in hospitality (800 employees servicing 200 rooms), and fully equipped with whatever the discerning clientele may dream up. An all-inclusive palace centered in the heart of the old city carries an air that typically converts travelers into permanent tenants (Consider Yves Saint Laurent’s initial half month stay turned 2 year residency).

With a décor that’s beyond decadent – equal parts moody and sexy coupled with perfect lighting, juxtaposed multi-color tiles, gardens upon gardens with a deep and rich color palette, the retreat’s design is ottoman styled while very loyal to the traditional Moroccan aesthetic. Although the hotel’s design boasts an over the top opulence, La Mamounia manages to balance on a fine line of tasteful luxury that has yet to get old and probably never will.

While this 5 star luxury hotel is in a league of its own, it’s hard not to categorize this hideaway as an all-inclusive resort considering its roster of endless amenities and offerings. From a French bistro, l’Italien by Don Alfonso and the highly esteemed Le Marocain to incredible treatments at their tranquil spas and poolside at Le Pavillon, La Mamounia is a majestic haven fit for kings and queens. For those considering group stays or the utmost privacy, within La Mamounia exists three riads, essentially hotels within the hotels that are beyond one’s wildest imaginations.

It’s to no surprise why the hotel’s guests are of the most elite and well-traveled individuals having successfully found refuge at this homey and dreamy recluse. Staying at the La Mamounia is a multi-sensory experience better lived than read.
