James Gulliver Hancock loves to draw, in fact “he feels sick when he’s not drawing”, and “panics that he may not be able to draw everything in the world… at least once.” Here are a series of illustrations from Des Moines to underground Egypt, Giza pyramids. He’s educational, cheeky and totally quirky which makes watching his career trajectory a complete delight. An honors graduate of Visual Communications at the University of Technology, Sydney, in 2000 he stared a gallery there called SPACE3, nurturing creative endeavors from graduating painters to the development of a music festival. The publishing of a 200 page hardcover book marked the end of 5 years of curating new art in Sydney. He has undertaken artist residencies all over Europe and most recently has been in America where he has worked for a wide variety of high profile clients. These include Dell Computers, Coca-Cola, Businessweek Magazine, The New York Times, Simon & Schuster, Herman Miller etc… and you may have seen his project, a cult favorite, drawings of iconic and not so iconic buildings of NYC: www.allthebuildingsinnewyork.com.
