The Greenbrier by JUCO

GREENBRIER by juco

The white-column-clad resort Greenbrier was invaded by Los-Angeles based photography duo JUCO (Julia Galdo and Cody Cloud) for an assignment for NY Mag’s The Cut; resulting in a stunning editorial building on the strength of American décor by Dorothy Draper and high-end fashion.

For every minimalist fashion editorial based on a simple location with very few elements to challenge the clothes in view, there is one at the total opposite of the spectrum: the maximalist aesthetic. JUCO’s work is a finely tuned effort to balance visually intense scenarios/colors to bring out the best of the wardrobe. Unafraid of clashing vibrant prints and patterns from the cinematic Greenbrier Hotel, they play off the model’s presence and exploration of each space.

Although the adjective ‘decadent’ is thrown around to describe vintage American décor when used on contemporary projects especially, it’s an unfair word to employ when such interiors still offers relevant and fresh visual compositions.
