The 24,000-square-foot Hudson Square lot has been given over to Gitano NYC, a semi-tented Mexican bar and restaurant with tables, sofas and lush greenery that can accommodate 450 diners and drinkers.
It’s a seasonal, New York version of Gitano in Tulum, Mexico, and in the fall, the founder and co-owner, James Gardner, and his partners plan to move it to some other warm destination.
