The New York outpost of Swedish fashion brand Cos opened to long lines of fans trying to get into its Soho shop. Fortunately we got a sneak peek of the 4-floor, blond-wood space, when their Head of Women’s Design toured us through the racks.
“We were inspired by tuxedos and classic menswear,” said Karin Gustafsson, chic in her cream sweater and silk skirt. Those details turned up in a bibbed dress shirt and a slim boyfriend blazer (“It fits like it would on Patti Smith.”)
The menswear on the bottom floor also carried strains of this inspiration, owing to the fact that Gustaffsson and the Head of Men’s Design Martin Andersson work closely. When we asked her what key item she’d recommend to New Yorkers, like those busting to get in that rainy day, she quipped, “Our lace ups. I wear them with trousers, a dress, they go with everything.” We think they’re quite suited for pounding the pavement on any given opening day.
