Comme des Garcons S/S 2013

CDG_SS _TRENDLANDWritten by Guest Blogger Madeline Rudin Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo didn’t hold back at this years Spring/Summer 2013 show for Comme des Garcons in Paris.  Completely deconstructed and dismembered, garments were strewn on models of every shape and size, each subject further adorned with a choppy blond wig and topped with a clashing plastic and metal fascinator. With exposed hems and mis-matched embroidery, each look was truly a piece of artwork, illustrating a sense of chaos and disorder within the unruly fabrics.  Straying only slightly from a uniform off-white and black color palette, each look had a flare of it’s own whether torn down the side or equip with an extra sleeve. Queens of the junkyard or alien invaders? Kawakubo doesn’t like to share detail, she prefers instead to keep quiet—using her imagination to play with ours.
