Christian Dior S/S ’14

The fashion fairytale that is Raf Simons at the House of Dior continued at Paris Fashion Week with the new collection set within a scaling, Monet-esque structure overflowing with roses, orchids, bougainvillea, wisteria, and other lush flowers, reflecting the inspiration of the Belgian designer.“This collection is the idea of twisting, turning and pushing Dior; where the lyrically romantic becomes dangerous; a beautiful rose garden becomes poisonous,” noted Simons, who realized his vision of a “Traveller, Transformer, Transporter”. Metallic silks achieved this affect, with pleated skirts, tailored jackets and the pastel palette impressing us the most. Critical reception has been quite mixed, as Simons’ begins to find his place.
