Chocolatexture by Nendo

Nendo, a Japanese design firm, made an outstanding and eye-catching project for Maison & Objet 2015. Looking into the possibility of infusing complex textures and visual compositions to chocolate, the aptly named project Chocolatexture showcases design in a playful and imaginative light.

Chocolate is a much loved and familiar treat around the world, so it’s not surprising to find variations of recipes, the format doesn’t take center stage very often though. Nendo proposes to manipulate the texture and how it may alter the taste as well. Offering 9 types of small cubes, very distinct from one another.

Taking a provisional food like a small chocolate and treating it with visual compositions and designs worthy of long-lasting materials such as wood is an intrepid move. This is a praise-worthy project that points into very interesting possibilities for Nendo.
