Chinese Box Club in Weert, The Netherlands is almost a regular Chinese takeaway. Conceived by a creative studio Zware Jongens, it was inspired by traditional Chinese restaurants. The small surface of 30sqm was designed as a comfy retro waiting room where customers are served with complimentary cups of tea. Birchwood panels and fitted floor carpets in deep navy create a quirky atmosphere with a punch – yet another element taken from boxing culture that has inspired the concept.
Spotlit nooks connect the space with the kitchen and this is exactly where the meals are served, wrapped in cool paper boxes. In order for the idea to be easily recreated in any other place in the world, the Box Club interior design & philosophy were captured into a replicable template by the owners.
