The A/W 2012 footwear collection of London based Chi-Lai Yuen was inspired by surrealism with interesting misplacement of texture and materials on platforms, stilettos and flats provoke immediate responses because of its unusual warped and draped leather shapes. Her mojo is “good design is a combination of simplicity with innovative ideas executed in high quality production using luxurious materials.”
After graduating from the Cordwainer’s College in London with a Master of Arts Degree in Fashion Footwear and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has worked for Celine, Alexander Wang, Pollini and Nicholas Kirkwood.
