Cesar Manrique Oath to Nature Architecture

Architect and visionary Cesar Manrique (1919-1992) designed stunning modern structures incorporating art, paintings, gardens, and unique windmill sculptures. The tranquil retreat he designed in his home town of Arrecife, Lanzarote opened in 1966 as part of the ‘intelligent tourism’ concept, one of the first places in Europe to introduce travel package holidays. Manrique made sure his spaces were an oath to nature and the landscape with traditional uses of colors leaving out high rises and making sure there where no advertising billboards in the area.
