Bouchra Jarrar S/S 2013

BOUCHRA_JARRAR_SS _TRENDLANDFrench designer Bouchra Jarrar has had an extensive history in fashion, first as Nicolas Ghesquière’s assistant, then working with Christian Lacroix before he folded his business. Jarrar is quite the couturier (although she designs Ready To Wear), her assiduous details of construction have given her a reputation of utmost respect in French fashion circles. She has famously stated that she is interested in creating pieces that stand the fickle test of time, her separates have become staples in any closet interested in timeless elegance. Because of her fastidious focus on quality and wearability, one can certainly build the perfect wardrobe with any of her pieces. This season it was about proportion and knitwear, using a basic color palate with some pops of mostly green  to keep it interesting and not so serious. The finishes are imperative, her piping and French seams stand up with any of the major houses. A friend of mine recently bought a dress and coat which was so perfectly constructed, it rates as a work of art. Jarrar is setting herself up as a long term player , get ready for longevity with her, she certainly has got the style and technical chops.
