Bobby Fitzpatrick [London]

The whimsical 1970's world of pizza & cocktails at this northern-hood hang

London is a city of many faces and neighborhoods – yet north-London is somehow a sort of a less of a hype destination, especially in sleepy West-Hampstead. Of course the northern part of London has a lot to offer, specially in the beloved “rough and ready” neighborhood of Camden Town and posh Primrose Hill with its swish eateries and yoga studios.

Off the beaten track though there is Bobby Fitzpatrick, a whimsical pizza & drinks space that is fun galore. Fun because there is nothing better than a well-designed bona fide time capsule of autographed pictures of  70’s icons, diner-style tables with a very cool Wes Andersonian soundtrack.

With a ground floor dining room and kitchen, diners can find all-American comfort food, including burgers with deep-fried pickles, banana pie and pizzas with very British twists like a chicken tikka masala topping – after all Britain’s favorite dish is the curry.

Downstairs a basement provides a total immersion into one of those American style 70’s basement party pads, with a conservatory-themed lounge, suspended wicker egg chairs, retro board games and a bar in the center where your slushie cocktail gets prepared. Design details make Bobby Fitzpatrick a gem, with beautiful retro wallpaper and great bathrooms with very British two-taps sinks of boiling hot and freezing cold water – don’t ask us why! – rendering a one of a kind 70’s revival hang indeed.
